Program Description



This bachelor degree program prepares students for middle level management positions in the hospitality and tourism industry. Our program provides the kind of education needed for tomorrow’s managers. It involves both online and face-to-face classroom learning
as well as training on site.

It comprises business, management and development courses that include field experience to expose students to the practical aspects of hospitality and tourism management. This enhances their academic as well as their professional experience and contributes to their personal and social growth. The program is further enhanced by special events and research projects to contribute to the development of new tourism products. The last phase of this degree program focuses on conducting quantitative and qualitative field research, and on change management and entrepreneurship development to solve business challenges and to set up one’s own business.

Certificates



Students who pass the final exams for the AHLEI and AHA certificate courses on the bachelor’s degree curriculum will receive a Certificate of Completion for each of these courses.



Graduation Requirements



The International Hospitality and Tourism College awards the Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management to students who:

• Meet the College’s academic standards;
• Complete a 6-month internship;
• Complete a minimum of 129 semester credit hours including 9 credits for internship towards graduation.



Academic Minors



Academic Minors can be obtained together with a Bachelor’s Degree. A minor enhances the value of the student’s major. Many employers are looking for employees who are specialized in a specific sector, and they are often willing to pay such individuals more than the salary generally offered.

We offer the following Academic Minors:

• Minor in Meetings and Special Events Management

• Minor in Ecotourism Management



Requirements



Twenty-one (21) credits are required to be awarded a Minor.

These Minors are partially integrated in the Bachelor’s Degree program. Students taking the BHTM program need to earn an additional number of credits to be awarded the following Minors



Minor in Meetings and Special Events Management



Fifteen (15) of the credits required to earn the Minor in Meetings and Special Events Management are included in this Bachelor’s Degree program. Students need to complete the course Convention Management and Service and Project II successfully to earn the six (6) additional credits to be awarded this Academic Minor.

Seventeen (17) of the credits required to earn the Minor in Ecotourism Management are included in this Bachelor’s Degree program. Students need to complete the course in Tribal Tourism and Research Project III successfully to earn the four (4) additional credits to be awarded this Academic Minor.
